Christmas at Home

The decision to come back to the UK over Christmas was obvious, leaving the bike in the UAE was not so.

However after 9 days here in England, where the rain has come and stayed, leaving the bike behind was a good call. I’ve not turned into a dry weather rider, but constant riding in the rain and cold would just demoralise me. So the trade off for the cold and wet will be a little loss of fitness…. but at least I wont of rusted stiff, and it’s a big Kudos on Strava for any riders that do the 500 challenge over Christmas and live in the wet UK.

Racing in the UAE

An interesting ride on Friday, it was my first road race for over 3 yrs. I was nervous about it, from a physical point of view, only 3 months into proper training and from a mental standpoint of knowing that i would hurt… a lot after it.

The circuit was great, round all the sights and sites (building) in Dubai, especially interesting around the back of the Burj Khalifa, were we turned right through an unlit building site.

Not much to say about the race, it was typical racing (seems the same throughout the world). Fast/ slow, dangerous etc.

Well physically I was OK, apart from Saturday, where my neck ached so bad i couldnt turn it!!

Now time for a few more weeks solid training – improve some more, apparently the season starts in February, cant wait
